Kazakhstan lifts moratorium on flights to Egypt

The Kazakh Civil Aviation Committee has given local carriers the greenlight to resume passenger flights to Egypt. The announcement comes four months after services to the North African state were suspended in the wake of the bombing of a MetroJet (Russia) (7K, Moscow Domodedovo) A321-200 over the Sinai Peninsula which killed all 217 passengers and 7 crew on-board.

As it stands, SCAT Airlines (DV, Shimkent), the only Kazakh operator to serve Egypt, is planning to resume flights to Sharm el Sheikh as early as March 19 though this is still subject to official confirmation.
