Emergencies Ministry’s jet keeps on surveying in Sea of Okhotsk

An Antonov-74 plane which belongs to the Khabarovsk Air Rescue Center of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations again took off today from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to survey the surface of the Sea of Okhots, where signals of two alarm beacons were registered on February 8, 2016.

The crew of the plane, rescuers and a task force of the Far Eastern Regional Center of the Emergencies Ministry will survey the area in the sea where a shipwreck might have happened.

Over the past two days the plane has examined about 10,000 square km of the sea, but found no traces of a shipwreck.

At present, the weather in the area of the alarm signal is favorable for the search operation. The Sibirsky rescue ship has arrived at the search area for search operations. The actions of the team are coordinated by the marine Rescue Coordination Center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky of the Russia’s Ministry of Transport.

As of today there are 29 people and 2 units of equipment, including the Emergencies Ministry’s Antonov-74 plane, involved in the search operation.
