Open air space in Kyrgyzstan created on paper only

Russian Aviaton » Friday December 23, 2016 18:06 MSK

"InKyrgyzstan, the open airspace remains on paper only”, Prime Minister of KyrgyzstanSooronbai Jeenbekov said  today at a government meeting.

According to him, civil aviation is an important component in developing the country’s infrastructure. Kyrgyzstanhas great potential in transit and air travel. Civil aviation is a major component to develop trade and tourism.

The Government of Kyrgyzstan has introduced a visa-free mode for many countries in the world. This should improve the air service. We do not have enough domestic flights, there are no aircraft and the technical condition of transport is low. Therefore, to increase the volume of air carriages and to exit from the black list of international transportation we must be clear to pursue a policy in the civil aviation sector. In doing this, we can pick it up. I think it will affect on the Kyrgyz economy as well”,  Mr. Jeenbekov said.

“Before the next inspection of civil aviation, we have to solve all the problems identified by ICAO. It is necessary to bring the legislative base of the industry in line with the new Air Code. It is necessary to solve the problem of training and retraining. We need to create conditions for investors to create international serving centers. We have the Civil Aviation Development Programme but the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) does not carry out sufficient work. The main cause of the problems is concluded in the fact that there was no coordination from the Ministry of Transport. The CAA together with the Ministry of Transport and Roads should develop a Safe Transport Programme within a month”, the Prime Minister concluded.
