Today, the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces celebrates its 102th anniversary.
In 2016, crews of the long-range aviation have fulfilled the flight and combat training plan. The pilots have spent more than 20,000 hours in the air.
Crews of long-range bombers have carried out sea zone mining flights for the first time after a long time interval. Piloting staff of Tu-22M3 carried out mining operation in the water zone of the Sea of Okhotsk from the altitude of 3,000-4,000 meters in course of the exercise with units of the Pacific Fleet.
Moreover, number of flights of Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aimed at practicing in-air refueling has increased by 10% as well as flights of Il-78 – by 20% in comparison with the previous year results.
Crews of air tankers practiced refueling bombers and fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces and military districts as well as the naval aviation.
