Pilots of the Pacific Fleet naval aviation practiced landing MiG-31 fighters on a conditionally damaged strip.
According to the scenario of the training, after performing tasks in the air the aircraft crews received data from the flight control officer that the simulated enemy had destroyed communication means of the airbase and damaged the landing strip partly.
The pilots took decision to go round in order to define the level of the landing strip damage and landed their aircraft on a short runway.
The flights were carried out at day- and nighttime. In total, the pilots carried out more than 20 air missions.
