Delegation of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan flies to Moscow for talks with their Russian counterparts

Somon Air’s airplane flew en route Dushanbe– Moscow – Dushanbetoday at 08:54 am local time.

TASS informed from the international airport of the capital of Tajikistan, on board of this plane, there was a government commission headed by the chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Tajikistan Yusuf Rakhmonov. Representatives of the Ministry of Aviation fly to Moscowto continue negotiations with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. Today is expected to arrive in Dushanbeon the charter flight airline "Yamal" from the Zhukovsky flight which was delayed due to disagreements aviation authorities of the two countries. "All the relevant services of the airport are ready to take flight from the Zhukovsky airport", the airport assured. The Dushanbe International Airport also recalled that “the Civil Aviation Authority of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan has decided to grant permission to take off from the airport in Zhukovsky for the aircraft belonged to Yamal Airlines as an exception” because about 100 people bought their air tickets and had waited for more than two days of this  departure.

The threat of suspension of air links between Russiaand Tajikistanon the backdrop of the next stage of the proceedings by the number of designated carriers of the two countries. On the eve of Tajikistan’s aviation authorities have not agreed "Yamal" airlines fly from Zhukovsky airport in Khujand. According to them, the flights "Yamal" would violate parity in the number of designated carriers to perform flights between Russia and Tajikistan. In response, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that the refusal of Tajik aviation authorities is not competent.

In the autumn 2016, flights between the two countries has hung threat, as Tajik aviation authorities refused to agree to Russian airlines regarding their flights from/to Zhukovsky. Then Tajikistanconsidered that Zhukovsky refers to Moscowand, consequently, this was a subject to bilateral agreements on the number of designated carriers. According to Russian law, Zhukovsky was added to Ramensky aviation hub (Moscow Region).

Flights between the two countries are operated by Tajikistan’s Tajik Air and Somon Air and Russia’s air carriers, namely Ural airlines, S7 Airlines and UTair. Ural Airlines flies from Moscow (and Zhukovsky near Moscow) to Dushanbe six times a week, and seven times a week to Tajikistan’s Khujand and Kulyab. S7 Airlines operates its flights from Moscow’s Domodedovo to Khudzhand and makes seven flights a week, to Dushanbe - three and to Kulyab – two. UTair provides seven flights a week from Moscow to Dushanbe.
