In 2016, Airborne troops carried out tasks concerning increase of combat capabilities of the units as well as re-equipment of formations and military units with modern armament and military hardware.
Airborne formations have received newest and modernized armament, military and special hardware, including more than 60 BMD-4M and BTR-MDM, about 40 BREM-D, 2S9-1 Nona self-propelled artillery systems, Verba MLRS, modern EW stations, about 40 BTR-82A APCs as well as more than 6,000 parachute systems and about 100 pieces of different airborne hardware.
The troops held more than 2,300 combat training activities of different scales.
Training of battalion and company tactic groups reinforced by tanks and missile units of the military districts as well as Northern Fleet units will be the main peculiarity of the new training year.
