Emergency Ministry’s Krasnoyarsk Air Rescue Center gets new Mil Mi-8 MTV helicopter

The Emergency Ministry’s Krasnoyarsk Air Rescue Center has gotten a new Mil-Mi-8 MTV helicopter made at the Kazan Helicopter Factory.

The Mil Mi-8 MTV is a time-tested aircraft proven efficient in hundreds of rescue operations in different climatic conditions in the vast territory of Siberian Federal District, The new helicopter will replace the old one which according to technical documentation has been in operation for 35 years.

As of today, the Emergency Ministry’s Siberian Regional Center has 11 aircrafts: 2 amphibious Beriyev Be-200 ChS jets, Antonov An-74 cargo and passenger plane, 7 Mil Mi-8 multifunctional helicopters and a Mil Mi-26 transport helicopter.

The Mil Mi-8 MVT is a multipurpose helicopter with speed up to 250 km/h. It can fly at the altitude of up to 6,000 meters, make 500 km on a single fuel tank and transport up to 4 tons of load (either 24 passengers or a cargo onboard, or the external load). The helicopter is fitted with water-bombing equipment and an extended boom with a hoist to dropping or lifting rescuers and the injured.
