News UK's CargoLogicAir pulls out of African market

CargoLogicAir (P3, London Stansted) has withdrawn from Africa citing the continent's continued cargo market weakness.

Airline CEO Sergey Lazarev told Russia's ATO.ru that flights from London Stansted to Libreville(Gabon), Johannesburg O.R. Tambo (South Africa), and Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta (Kenya) were discontinued in August with the carrier now focusing on the Europe-Americas and Europe-China markets.

Launched earlier this year, CargoLogicAir is the UK subsidiary of Russia's Volga-Dnepr Airlines (VI, Ulyanovsk Vostochny). Its fleet currently entails one B747-400(FSCD) (leased from Aircastle) and one B747-8(F) (leased from Boeing Capital) used on flights from Frankfurt Int'l (and occasionally Munich, Leipzig/Halle, and Helsinki Vantaa) to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok via Moscow Sheremetyevo.
