The test flight program of the IL-76TD-90VD in Antarctica continues. The aircraft was checked for failure safety during the second phase of tests in November 2016.
The aircraft controls were tested on snow and ice surface with asynchronous traction caused by possible engine failure.
Pilots dealt with interrupted and continued take-offs a snow and ice runway with simulated engine failure, tested the differential brake (braking with only landing gear, positioned on one of the sides of the aircraft), and landing with one inoperative engine (switched to idle).
Tests have confirmed the safety of operation of IL-76TD-90VD in Antarctica in such situations.
