First plane from disputed Russian airport Zhukovsky to Tajikistan to depart on November 22

Zhukovsky to Tajikistan will be performed since November 22, reports the Ural Airlines.

The airline started selling flight tickets to Tajikistan, said the report.

The first flight from Zhukovsky to Dushanbe will be operated on November 22, 2016 and then these flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight schedule from Russia’s Zhukovsky to Tajikistan’s Khujand also begins on November 22nd and provides flight operations on the same days.

Recall that in early November the media reported about “aviation dispute” between the transport ministries ofTajikistan and Russia. The Russian side announced the possibility to unilaterally suspend air communication withTajikistan.

Later, Moscow held consultations for aviation authorities of the two countries, and , as a result, the parties agreed to continue developing air traffic between the two countries on a full scale.

The Ministry of Transport of Russia reported that the Tajik side had agreed flights for Russian airlines to be operated from Zhukovsky.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Russia, negotiations between aviation authorities were successful and one has reached a compromise to operate flights by Ural Airlines from the new Moscow Region’s Zhukovsky Airport toDushanbe, Tajikistan, twice a week and to Khujand, Tajikistan, twice a week, too.

Also, one has agreed to launch additional destinations for Tajik air carriers from Tajikistan to Russia’s Ufa,Chelyabinsk and Barnaul, .

Also, one will increase the number of flights operated by Tajik carriers from Khujand to St. Petersburg.

The Tajik side has previously stated that the country intends to protect its air market and requires compliance with the flight rules on the “equal/parity basis”.

Tajikistan believes that launching of flights from the new Zhukovsky airport to Tajikistan is a unilateral increase in the number of Russian carriers and the frequency of flights on the Moscow – Dushanbe air route.

The Russian Ministry of Transport emphasizes that Zhukovsky does not apply to the Moscow city but to the region.

Currently, regular flights from Russia to Tajikistan are carried out from 15 cities in Russia, the majority of these flights fall on the airports of the Moscow aviation hub. To Russia, planes fly out from four airports in Tajikistan:Dushanbe (13 Russian cities), Khujand (15 Russian cities), as well as from Kurgan-Tuibe and Kulyab (only toMoscow).

Flights between the two countries are operated by Tajikistan’s Tajik Air and Somon Air and Russia’s Ural Airlines, Russia Airlines, S7 Airlines and UTair Airlines.
