Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to toughen the rules against airline “troublemakers” at a meeting with Aeroflot Airline CEO Vitaly Savelyev, ATWonline reported.
Savelyev asked to change the laws, as the airline’s internal passenger watch list has reached 3,090 names, and the sanctions envisioned by current legislation against troublemaking passengers cannot solve the problem.
Savelyev wants the fine for unacceptable onboard conduct increased to 500,000 rubles ($7,900). He also asked that cabin crewmembers be allowed to use plastic ties and special belts to restrain unruly passengers. Savelyev also wants to ban blacklisted passengers from using Aeroflot for several years.
Currently, Russian carriers can compile watch lists of potential troublemakers for internal information only.
