Aviation, which had been involved in the training of the CIS Joint air defence system, returned to the permanent location airfields

Aviation, which had been involved in the training of the CIS Joint air defence system, returned to the permanent location airfields.

MiG-29, Su-27, and MiG-31 aircraft of 8 aviation regiments of the Russian Aerospace Forces as well as Tu-160, Tu-95MS, and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers of the Russian aviation were involved in the inspection.

The aircraft operated from the Hotilovo, Kursk, Besovets, Engels, Bolshoye Savino, Tolmachovo and other airfields. Aviation of the Russian airbases in Kirgizia and Armenia were involved in the inspection as well.  

Crews of MiG-31 of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Kazakhstani Air Defence Forces practiced intercepting supersonic and stratosphere targets.

MiG-29 and Su-27 crews practiced actions in case of breaching the state border and stealing of an aircraft.

Two A-50 aircraft, which took off from Sesha and Tolmachovo airfields, were also involved in the actions in order to expand the radiolocation field.

More than 20 tasks aimed at strengthening aerial borders of the CIS countries have been performed in course of the inspection. Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the training of the CIS Joint air defence system.

In total, about 100 aircraft (MiG-29, MiG-31, Su-27, Su-25, Su-24, Tu-95, Tu-22, A-50) were involved in the training.
