A Russian MI-8 transport helicopter crash landed on Friday in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region in northwestern Siberia, a source in the regional emergency services said.
The contact with the helicopter has been los, the source said.
"The helicopter reportedly had 22 people on board," the source told RIA Novosti.
The source added that one of the passengers succeeded to report that the helicopter had made a crash landing.
According to the source, weather conditions could be the reason behind the accident, however, technical malfunctions and a crew error are also among possible causes of the accident.
The helicopter had reportedly made an emergency landing 50 miles northwest of the settlement of Urengoy in Russia's Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area.
