Russian Helicopters Group will deliver four Mil Mi-8MTV-1 "Hip" rotorcraft to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry, the group’s press office said in a press release obtained by TASS. Russian Helicopters Group is a subsidiary of Russia’s state i-tech corporation Rostec.
"In September 2016, the Kazan Helicopter Plant, a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters Group, signed two contracts for the delivery of four Mi-8MTV-1 rotorcraft to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry," the press office said.
"According to the results of the tenders held in 2016, the Kazan Helicopter Plant will deliver four Mi-8MTV-1 rotorcraft to air units of Russia’s and Tatarstan’s Emergencies Ministry before the yearend," the press office added.
The Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter can be used to extinguish fire, carry out search and rescue operations and provide medical assistance both in the daytime and at night in all weather conditions, the press office said.
The helicopter is equipped with a rescue hoist and an external sling with a cargo-carrying capacity of 300 kilograms and 4 tons, respectively.
