The Shiveluch volcano in Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Krai has spewed ash to the height of seven kilometers above the sea level, Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) told TASS on Tuesday.

"At the Shiveluch volcano, the column of ash went up to seven kilometers above the sea level. The cloud spread eastward for three kilometers," KVERT said adding that the volcano continues to spew ash.

According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s main department in the Kamchatka Krai, no ash falls were registered in Kamchatka’s settlements.

Shiveluch is the northernmost active volcano in Kamchatka. The closest settlement - Klyuchi - is located in 47 kilometers from the volcano.
