Russian Trade Minister Denis Manturov said Thursday he may discuss deliveries of naval helicopters for Egyptian Mistral warships if Cairo raises the issue during his upcoming visit to the country.

Manturov is leading a Russian delegation, comprising representatives of some 60 Russian companies, on a January 31-February 2 visit to Cairo to discuss joint energy and infrastructure projects in Egypt.

"I don't know. Only if the Egyptian side would be willing to discuss this issue," Manturov said answering the relevant question.

In October 2015, Cairo and Paris signed a contract paving the way for Egypt's purchase of two Mistral helicopter carriers originally built for Russia, after France officially terminated the 1.2 billion euro (some $1.28 billion at current exchange rates) deal with Moscow.
