Russian Su-35S and Su-27SM fighter jets performed tactical training over Sea of Japan, Sea of Okhotsk

The Su-35S (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) and Su-27SM (Flanker-B) multipurpose fighter jets have also practiced detecting and tracking training aerial targets, the spokesman added.

"During pilot training flights, the Su-35S and Su-27SM fighter jets have accomplished flying missions along the assigned route and practiced detecting and tracking training aerial targets," Gordeyev said.

"The fighter jets have conducted flights in accordance with the combat training program for the district air unit’s flight crews," the spokesman said without specifying the number of the fighter jets that had taken part in the maneuvers.

The flights are designed to improve skills of the Eastern Military District’s flight crews to accomplish tasks in their area of responsibility, including numerous islands.
