Sibir Technics completes 12Y Check on Aeroflot's A320

Russian Aviaton » Thursday January 21, 2016 23:45 MSK

Sibir Technics, (part of ENGINEERING the Aviation Maintenance Holding) has completed its first 12-year periodic maintenance form, the D-check (6Y+12Y Check) on an Airbus A320 operated by Aeroflot at its maintenance base in Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo Airport. Previously, Russia’s largest carrier trusted Sibir Technics with its aircraft maintenance up to C-checks only.

“There were quite a lot of heavy tasks during this D-Check for Aeroflot. Fuselage structure inspection, which included complete disassembling of the cabin and baggage compartments, is just one example of work completed during this Check. To provide an illustration of an interesting task carried out by our engineers, this particular aircraft’s cockpit was fitted with a Smart Display Unit (SDU), which collects diagnostic data from instruments, navigation instruments”, comments Mikhail Ryazanov, Chief Engineer of Sibir Technics’ Periodic Maintenance Planning and Supervision Group.

This D-check completed by Sibir Technics in Tolmachevo, became the third 12-year form for Aeroflot performed by ENGINEERING Holding’s subsidiaries at their premises. In August and October 2015 two of Aeroflot’s A320s were handed back to the operator after D-checks done by another subsidiary -- S7 ENGINEERING in Domodedovo and Mineralnye Vody.

“Our cooperation with the Aeroflot Group on the heavy maintenance is an evidence of the development and further strengthening of the Russian aircraft maintenance sector. It is an example of the ongoing import phase-out in the domestic MRO industry,” Igor Panshin, ENGINEERING Holding’s Deputy general director for planning and sales, emphasized.

The company expects that in the coming year the number of Aeroflot’s aircraft serviced by ENGINEERING’s subsidiaries, will grow exponentially.
