In 2016, the Ghana Air Force will take delivery of new aircraft, including a single Mi-35 attack helicopter and a single CASA C295M tactical airlifter. The Ghana is also advancing in the acquisition process of five A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, announced the country's Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshall Michael Samson-Oje in December 2015.

“Last year by this time we were expecting the Z-9EH helicopters from China. I am pleased to state that they were delivered on schedule and already commissioned into service," Samson-Oje stated. “In addition to these, the government is in the process of acquiring one Mi-35 to boost our helicopter operational capabilities,” he added.

“Plans are also far advanced to procure the Super Tucano aircraft and build a new hangar at AFB Tamale as part of the infrastructure for the Flying Training School which also includes an ultra-modern barracks complex, the first of its kind in the Ghana Armed Forces," said Samson-Oje. During Paris Air Show last edition, in June 2015, Ghana also ordered fix new A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced training aircraft from the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer.

Ghana is also to receive a third C295M airlifter during the first weeks of January. 

The Mi-35 planned by the Ghana would be the first attack helicopter to be inducted in its Air Force, currently composed of Bell 412, A-109, Alouette III and Mi-17V-5 transport helicopters.
