Operation of one medium-haul MS-21 aircraft may help an air carrier save up to $3 million per year, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Irkut Corporation Vice-President Kirill Budaev.
“MS-21 outmatches the existing analogues (А-320 and Boeing-737) in terms of economics, we have a financial model, which shows that an airline may save up to $3 million per year (for each jet),” he said.
According to him, the savings are connected with the liner’s fuel efficiency, and more flying time, “MS-21 has higher speed and the risks of flight delays are lower”. “There are a lot things connected with direct and indirect costs; and the liner also has better weight characteristics,” Budaev added.
