Nevskoe Design Bureau developed a project of a ship to replace Mistrals

Nevskoe Design Bureau developed a project of a ship, which may replace Mistral-class vessels, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to a source, production of the new ship may be launched in 2016. «The multi-role assault ship developed in the network of “Priboi” project by Nevskoe Design Bureau will have a displacement of around 14,000 tons and will be able to carry up to eight Ka-27 and Ka-52K helicopters. The construction should be started in 2016,» he explained.

This vessel will be armed with Pantsir-M air defense system, he added. Priboi will be able to carry 500 troopers and about 40-60 vehicles. The length of the vessel will be 165 meters, width – 25 meters.

It was reported earlier that subsidiary of Dassault Group (France) — developer of software and 3D-models, Dassault Systemes, is ready to help Russia develop indigenous analogues of Mistral helicopter carriers.
