In the network of the Army-2015 international military technology forum Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) signed a contract with Belarusian Ministry of Defense for delivery of 12 Mi-8MTV-5 military-transport helicopters in 2016-2017, the company’s press-service reports.
«Belarus is Russia’s important partner in the area of military-technical cooperation, – Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev noted. – Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters will help the country expand its defense capabilities and increase potential of its armed forces. Signing of such a large contract is another step towards strengthening friendship and business relations between the countries».
“The contract will be implemented under the agreement between Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus for development of military-technical cooperation signed on December 10th 2009. The helicopters will have the same characteristics as the ones operated by Russian air forces; the vehicles will be delivered to the customer on the same terms,” the press-service explained.
Mi-8MTV-5 military-transport helicopters are manufactured by Kazan Helicopters (part of Russian Helicopters). They are designed for carrying out a wide range of missions: both combat and transport ones. The vehicles are fitted with state-of-the-art navigation, radio communications and targeting systems.
“In the course of years long operation Mi-8/17 Family helicopters have proven that these vehicles are one of the best it their class; the helicopters are able to accomplish different missions under any climatic conditions,” said in the statement.
