KRET developments that were presented at the MAKS 2015 International Aviation and Space Show are used not only in war but also in peacetime.
Electronic warfare and intelligence systems may be used to protect military formations during wartime as well as to ensure the security of major events, such as the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. The effectiveness of such systems can be judged by the results of their performance at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
As was noted by KRET First Deputy CEO Igor Nasenkov, modern terrorism presents one of the key challenges for security systems in all countries around the world.
One example of this approach is the use of small "Garmon" radar systems during the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Their main task is to prevent unlawful conduct and, above all, terrorist acts in the airspace surrounding mass public gatherings of people.
Due to its small weight and size, this system can be deployed at any place and provide continuous monitoring, including detecting such "complex" flying objects as "trike" ultralight aircraft and helicopters or drones that hover over mountains. "Garmon" radar systems are currently being mass-produced for the armed forces.
At the same time "Garmon" is currently being deployed in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to collect radar data to provide necessary air defense for flights from airfields and temporary air defense installations. In addition, these systems may be used to provide cover for the most important moving objects, such as combat rail-mobile missile systems equipped with ICBMs, which the Ministry of Defense recently announced would resume production.
