Decision on development of a stretched version of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ 100) will be made by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2015, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said.

“As for SSJ 100, we must consider its further development in terms of increasing the jet’s passenger capacity to 115 - 130 seats. The project is being prepared. We and UAC must make a decision on further fate of the project this year,” Manturov said.

According to him, UAC has a “positive results of operation” of this jet (version seating 95 passengers). At the same time Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is considering increasing its capacity to 130 passengers. “Of course, this decision will be followed by a decision on development of a new engine … SaM-146 engine installed on the basic version is not suitable for the version seating 130 passengers,” Denis Manturov explained. The minister believes that a new engine may be developed on the basis of PD-14 engine core (PD-14 engine for MS-21 aircraft is being developed).
