Aeroflot Company (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) announced operating results of Aeroflot Group (the Group) and Aeroflot – Russian Airlines (the Company) for July 2015 and the first seven months of 2015, the carrier’s press-service reported.

“Passenger traffic of Aeroflot Group for seven months of 2015 was 22.1 million passengers (+13.3% year-on-year). Passenger traffic of Aeroflot – Russian Airlines was 14.6 million passengers during the accounting period (+9.8% year-on-year). The Group’s revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) increased by 8.2% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2015, while the carrier’s RPKs grew by 9.9% year-on-year. Available seat kilometers (ASKs) of the Group grew by 8,2% year-on-year, while the company’s ASKs – by 9,0%. The passenger load factor reached 77,5% (-0.1%) for the Group and 78.7% (+0,7%) for the Company during the first seven months of 2015,” the carrier’s press-service reports.

In July 2015 Aeroflot Group’s passenger traffic was 4.2 million passengers (+10.6% year-on-year). Aeroflot – Russian Airlines’ traffic was 2.6 million passengers in July 2015 (+12,3% year-on-year).

“The Group’s and the Carrier’s passenger turnover increased by 6,0% and 11.5% year-on-year, respectively. Available seat kilometers for the same period grew by 5.6% year-on-year for Aeroflot Group and by 9.2% for Aeroflot – Russian Airlines,” the press-service added.

On domestic routes, the Group’s passenger traffic increased by 32.9% year-on-year, passenger turnover – by 31,0% (in July 2015). “This was mainly attributable to increased demand for domestic flights, growth of in-country tourism, a rise in low-cost travel, combined with a 36.0% year-on-year increase in ASKs due to, among other things, increased flight frequencies on the most popular routes. The carrier’s passenger traffic and passenger turnover in July 2015 increased by 13.8% and 13.3% year-on-year, respectively, because of increased demand for domestic flights and a corresponding increase in ASKs of 14.8%,» the company explained.

On international routes, the Group’s passenger traffic and passenger turnover decreased by 12.1% and 10.4% year-on-year, respectively, in July 2015. This decline was attributable to a 12.9% year-on-year decrease in ASKs on international routes, as the Group continued to optimize capacities in its subsidiaries (mainly in the charter flights segment) and reallocate capacity to domestic routes. Aeroflot’s traffic and passenger turnover increased by 10.8% and 10.4% year-on-year, respectively. The growth on international routes was connected with a decrease in competition as a result of lowering the frequency of flights to Russia by some foreign carriers, as well as increase of Aeroflot’s international transit traffic through Sheremetyevo airport.

“In July 2015, the Group’s passenger load factor increased by 0.3% year-on year to 86.9%; the carrier’s passenger load factor grew by 1.9% year on year to 87.8%,” the press-service noted.
