Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is working on resuming mass production of Il-114 regional twin-engine turboprop (seating 64 passengers) in Russia, Interfax reports.
“United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ilyushin Company are preparing a draft decision for resuming mass production of Il-114 aircraft,” a source close to the military-industrial sector reported.
According to him, the draft decision was submitted for consideration by the Russian government in late July 2015. “Today it is too early to say, which enterprise is going to manufacture production Il-114 turboprops; no final decision was made. However, TV7-117SM engines for this liner will be manufactured by Chernyshev Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise,” the source said.
He added that Russian Ministry of Defense is interested in development of a patrol aircraft derived from Il-114. However, this aircraft may be developed only after launching the mass production of basic version of Il-114.
“We see Il-114 as not only passenger aircraft, but also as a transport platform. The program for development of the Arctic Region for the period until 2020 includes three Il-114 aircraft fitted with ski and wheel landing gear, which is being developed by Gidromash (Nizhny Novgorod). The aircraft will be designated Il-114-300 and will be manufactured in the network of a program for import substitution,” Chief Designer of the aircraft Sergey Gromov said.
He explained that 4 versions of Il-114-300 would be developed. The basic one is a passenger version; its deliveries should be started in 2019. Cargo and Arctic versions will be derived from the passenger one as well as the patrol aircraft, whose prototype was showcased at Army-2015 forum held in Kubinka (Moscow Region) in June 2015.
The value of the project for resuming mass production of Il-114 aircraft in Russia and development of a number of the liner’s new versions may reach 55 billion rubles. Il-114 aircraft have been manufactured by TAPOiCh (Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after V.P. Chkalov) until 2012; a total of 17 aircraft have been manufactured. Seven Il-114 liners are still operated by Uzbekistan airways.
According to experts, around 320 Il-114 aircraft may be sold during the period from 2019 to 2030. Maximum possible output is 24 aircraft per year; it may be reached by 2025. According to the production program the first aircraft may be delivered to a customer in 2018-2019; 24 liners of the type will be delivered to customers by 2025 (estimated list price of one aircraft - 960 million rubles, including VAT (2014 prices)).
Passenger capacity of Il-114 aircraft is 64 passengers. It is powered by two TV7-117S (SM) engines having a power of 2500 h.p. each. Maximum takeoff weight of the liner is 23,5 tons. Cruise speed - 500 km/h. Cruising altitude - 7,600 meters, range with 64 passengers onboard - 1000 km (with a payload of 1,5 tons - 4800 km).
