Belarusian armed forces signed a contract for delivery of 12 Mi-8 helicopters; a contract for delivery of 4 Yak-130 jets will be signed soon, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports with reference to Commander-in-Chief of Belarusian air forces and air defense forces, Major General Oleg Dvigalev.
«We have signed the contract for delivery of 12 state-of-the-art Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters having improved combat capabilities compared to vehicles currently operated by our armed forces,» O. Dvigalev said.
He also said that the armed forces are going to purchase Yak-130 jets. «We should sign a contract for delivery of 4 more jets of the type in two weeks; the aircraft will join Yak-130 operational trainers already operated by our air forces,» he said.
According to him, training of Belarusian pilot-instructors for Yak-130 jets has already been completed. «Four of our instructors are already training pilots of the 116th air base to operate Yak-130. There is no need to rush. I think that about 10 pilots will be trained this year,» he added.
