In future Russia will be able to replace engines for Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft, MS-21 passenger airliner and Mi-26 helicopter with the indigenous ones. Moreover, Russia will be able to develop an engine for a heavy helicopter developed by Russia and China, Vice-premier Dmitry Rogozin said during a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin’s press-service reports.

“We have thoroughly analyzed the situation, today we are developing two engines. These are PD-14 (for MS-21 civil aircraft) and military engine for the fifth-generation PAK FA fighter (tier 2),” Rogozin said at the meeting with the President, while talking about import substitution in the area of engine building.

He added that one project might be implemented by the Perm Engine Company. “We have found a solution based on the work carried out by the Perm Engine Company; we are going to develop engines on the basis of the new engine core. This will help expand the aircraft engines segment: takeoff thrust of the new engines will vary from 9 to 16 tons,” Dmitry Rogozin added.

“This means that we will be able to re-engine the new Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft, develop an engine to replace Ukrainian-produced one for Mi-26 helicopter, as well as engines for the advanced heavy helicopter developed by Russia and China, and for the largest member of MS-21 family seating 210 passengers,” the Vice-premier noted.
