An agreement between government of Voronezh Region, UAC and Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing Company (VASO) resulted in signing a state contract for delivery of 15 An-148 jets to Russian Ministry of Defense during a period until 2017. VASO also secured orders for 14 Il-96 jets (different versions) for the period from 2015 to 2024; most orders were placed by Russian Ministry of Defense.
In 2015 the Voronezh-based enterprise started preparation for mass production of Il-112V aircraft. In 2010 with the assistance of the region’s government an aviation cluster was established with the participation of VASO, technical university and some local companies connected with the aircraft industry.
In 2014 and 2015 the government of Voronezh Region raised funds from the federal budget in the network of a tender issued by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development in order to implement a joint project “Establishment of the Test and Certification Center of the Aviation Cluster of Voronezh Region” – potential resident of the Voronezh Aviation Tech Park (was granted this status in July 2014). The center will allow businessmen to receive all the required certificates for their products. The center’s major goal is to improve the level of tests and certification of equipment, technological processes and products, as well as open possibilities for implementation of contracts with VASO and other UAC companies for а small and medium-sized companies.
