In 2014 Aeroflot strengthened its positions as the leader of Russian market and one of the Europe’s most successful airlines by means of achieving important milestones in all of its core areas of activities, the carrier’s press-service reports.
“Aeroflot achieved optimal financial results given the crisis currently affecting the Russian economy. External factors significantly affected the company’s results. In 2014 Aeroflot Group’s revenues increased by 9.9% year-on-year and reached 319.8 billion rubles; the net loss for 2014 was 17.1 billion rubles. The company's key results for 2014 were: significant growth of its operating results; for the third straight year Aeroflot was ranked among Europe’s top-five largest carriers by RPKs and ASKs, and it is the only Russian company in this list (according to Airline Business). In 2014 Aeroflot was named the world’s most punctual airline by FlightStats twice», the press-service explained.
Moreover, work on strengthening the integration of the company’s subsidiaries into Aeroflot Group and development of regional flights continues. Pobeda, the Group’s low-cost carrier subsidiary launched in 2014, is the first successful carrier using a classic budget model in Russia. Aeroflot also continues working in cooperation with the government on updating Russia’s commercial aviation legislation. Amendments were made to the Russian Air Code to improve conditions for air carriers in Russia, including in the low-cost segment.
