Another Il-76MD-90A will be handed over to Russian Ministry of Defense in late summer 2015, TASS reports with reference to Aviastar-SP CEO, Sergey Dementyev.
“A solemn ceremony dedicated to the roll-out of the aircraft after painting was held on June 9th; in late summer the jet will be delivered to the customer,” he noted.
After the painting (took about 15 days) the ground tests of the new Il-76MD-90A were continued. All the necessary aircraft systems and equipment were installed; leakage tests of the wing box and wing stub box have been successfully completed. Besides painting and ground tests, the jet (MSN 0105) must undergo production flight tests.
It will be the second airliner of the type delivered to Russian Ministry of Defense under a contract for delivery of 39 Il-76MD-90A worth 140 billion rubles. Aviastar-SP has already manufactured four airliners of the type. The first one was handed over to TsAGI in order to carry out life testing. The second one is being refined by the enterprise; third one was handed over to Beriev Aircraft Company. The fourth jet of the type was delivered to Russian Ministry of Defense in April.
Besides MSN 0105 jet, in 2015 the armed forces should take delivery of one more Il-76MD-90A. At present around 10 jets of the type are in production.
Il-76MD-90A was derived from proven Il-76 military-transport aircraft. The aircraft is fitted with the glass cockpit, state-of-the-art engines. It features upgraded wing and reinforced landing gear.
