Transaero has expanded its EASA certificate, thus the carrier may perform C-check for Boeing 737Classic and Boeing 737NG aircraft, the company’s press-service reports.
Within the framework of the carrier’s Technical Department, a special workshop has been set up on the basis of the airline’s MRO station at Vnukovo airport. On June 2nd 2015, the first Transaero’s Boeing 737-500 arrived at the workshop for C-check maintenance. “The permission to perform independent C-check for Boeing 737 aircraft is another step in developing the airline’s maintenance capabilities. Performing independent heavy maintenance on the airline’s own base will significantly reduce the carrier’s expenditures in foreign currency in the network of the program for business optimization and increase of its overall efficiency: the airline’s savings may reach $15 million a year,” Mikhail Korobovich, Deputy CEO, Head of Technical Department, Transaero Airlines, said. – “Moreover, despite the difficult economic situation and the ongoing cost-cutting program, the company was able to retain the high-skilled personnel and expand its technical competences; this fact will promote import substitution in the area of MRO services in Russia.”
We remind you that in September 2012 Transaero received its EASA certificate allowing it to carry out the base aircraft maintenance at Vnukovo airport. The station is located in the territory of 12,800-square-meter hangar. This hangar includes two sections, which can accommodate up to six aircraft. The MRO station has 220 employees.
Besides C-check maintenance for Boeing 737Classic and Boeing 737NG at Vnukovo station, Transaero carries out all forms of A-check for Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767-200 / 300, Boeing 777-200 / 300 aircraft, as well as two-year maintenance for Boeing 777-200/300 aircraft. The light repairs of CFM-65 engines (Boeing 737 aircraft) using Top Case method (allows replacing blades in the most advanced ways) are also carried out there.
“The development and improvement of Transaero’s capabilities in the area of MRO services has always been one of the top-priority tasks for the carrier. In 1996, Transaero was the first Russian airline to receive the certificate of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for independent maintenance of aircraft manufactured in the USA. After that the carrier obtained the Certificate for independent maintenance of foreign aircraft in accordance with the European JAR system. In 2012 Transaero Training Center received the EASA certificate which allows training technicians to perform maintenance for Boeing aircraft in accordance with EU regulations, Russian and international standards,” Transaero added.
