Center for Operation of Space Ground-Based Infrastructure started pre-commissioning activities at Vostochny cosmodrome in early June

Specialists of the Center for Operation of Space Ground-Based Infrastructure (COSGBI) decided to start pre-commissioning activities at Vostochny cosmodrome (Amur Region) in early June under conditions of water and power supply carried out in compliance with temporary configuration, Interfax-Dalniy Vostok reports with reference to the press-service of COSGBI.

According to the press-service of COSGBI, the pre-commissioning activities related to the first four systems of the Vostochny cosmodrome’s equipment were started in early June. The press-service reports that gas-storage, gas generation and gas supply systems at the launch site and technical facilities have been installed as well as maintenance van and sprayers. The completion of pre-commissioning activities related to these systems will allow starting preparation of another 17 systems.

“The regular water and power supply lines have not been connected to the facilities yet, however, the installed equipment requires continuous power supply. In this regard designers of the COSGBI implemented a number of creative technical solutions in terms of carrying out pre-commissioning activities related to the finished systems. These solutions were approved by the developers and Spetstroy of Russia - water and power supply are carried out in compliance with temporary configuration,” Deputy CEO of COSGBI Andrei Okhlopkov, said.

So far 99% of the launch site’s systems and 100% of the technical facilities have been manufactured. 96% of launch site’s equipment has already been delivered to the cosmodrome as well as 100% of the equipment for the technical facilities. Its installation will be started after completion of construction of the required facilities.

According to Spetstroy of Russia, specialists of Northwestern, Southern, Privolzhsky and Siberian departments of Spetstroy arrived in Amur Region. “Employees of the General Directorate No.1 are working on construction of one of the Vostochny’s five water intake facilities, department of Instroy is working on construction of a school in the under-construction Tsiolkovsky. In addition, today over 900 vehicles are taking part in construction of Vostochny, including laser concrete pavers, which increase the work speed four times,” said in the statement.

235 specialists from different departments of Spetstroy are taking part in construction of administration and living quarters section of the integration and test building. They should have completed construction of the first three floors in June; the finishing work continues in the building on a double-shift basis.

On the other floors walls are being plastered and painted, lighting and power supply lines, ventilation and refrigeration systems are being installed, canalization and water supply lines are being connected, said in the Spetstroy’s statement.
