Russia will test a new military system in space

In summer 2015 Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will test the first satellite of the Integrated Space System (ISS), Rossiyskaya gazeta reports with reference to the representative of the Aerospace Defense Forces, Alexey Zolotukhin.

«Flight development tests of the first satellite of the ISS will be started at Plesetsk cosmodrome,» Colonel Zolotukhin said.

ISS is the further development of missile early-warning system. By 2018 the orbital constellation of ISS will reach 10 ones; it will allow Russia to detect launches of ballistic missiles (both the existing and advanced ones) from the ocean area and territory of different countries, which are testing such missiles. The first satellite of the system should be launched in 2015.

In the course of a summer training started on June 1st military units of the Aerospace Defense Forces will carry out 13 military exercises, including firing practice, using S-400 Triumph and Pantsir-1S systems. Over 10 command post exercises and training sessions will be carried out along with joint exercise with the participation of member countries of CIS air defense system “Boevoe sodruzhestvo 2015” (stands for Combat Comradeship 2015). The Voronezh radar stations are being put into service. New radar stations will be installed in the Komi Republic, Orenburg and Murmansk Regions.
