KRET: PAK FA fighter is able to neutralize stealth technologies

Himalayas EW suite developed by Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET, part of Rostec Corporation) not only increases the survivability of the Russian fifth-generation fighter T-50 (PAK FA), but also neutralizes stealth technologies used by enemy aircraft, RIA Novosti reports with reference to KRET.

Mass production of PAK FA (T-50) fighter will be started in 2016. So far only one country in the world operates fifth-generation fighters — USA (F-22 and F-35). Composite components, cutting-edge technologies, the jet’s aerodynamic configuration and engine performance grant a very low radar, optical and IR signature.

“The Russian aircraft will be well-protected against enemy weapons thanks to Himalayas EW suite. It allows not only increasing jamming resistance, but also improving survivability of the aircraft and neutralizing stealth technologies used by enemy aircraft,” said in the press-service’s statement.

Concern will be delivering most components of the PAK FA’s avionics suite. “Especially for PAK FA the concern developed the versatile BINS-SP2M strapdown inertial navigation system, which will help the fighter to define its position in case of absence of external signals,” the concern noted.

The press-service added: “A next-generation aircraft always requires suppliers to provide the best solutions and KRET is no exception”. Radioelectronic Technologies Concern is the Russia’s largest holding company in radioelectronics, it was established in 2009 (part of Rostec State Corporation). Its major areas of activities are: development and production of avionics suites for civil and military aircraft, radars, friend-or-foe identification systems, EW suites, measuring equipment, electric connectors, cable assemblies, etc.
