Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (RSC Energia) patented the shortened (the flight takes six hours) scheme for rendezvous of Russian manned transport and cargo spacecraft with ISS; the scheme has been used since 2012, press-service of Roscosmos reports.
Shortened rendezvous and docking technology is one of the most outstanding inventions patented by RSC Energia over the last few years. The patent is named: “The method of controlling movement of an active space object, which is docking with a passive space object». The author of this patent is the corporation’s employee Rafail Murtazin.
According to report prepared by Thomson Reuters, RSC Energia registered 103 patents during the period from 2010 to 2014 and took second place among European companies, which are developing space technologies.
«During the period from 2010 to 2014 we registered a total of 276 international and Russian patents, this year – 33 patents. Information in the report made by Thomson Reuters refers to patents with the following International Patent Classification Index: “Cosmonautics, spacecraft and its equipment,» RSC Energia explained.
“Among the most important inventions of RSC Energia is original version of a landing gear manufactured using nanomaterial. The aim of this invention is to increase the motion stability during landing of a return vehicle of a next-generation transport spacecraft, decrease the G-loads applied to the crew and pressure on returned cargo,” said in the statement.
The corporation’s specialists are developing innovative systems for manned and unmanned spacecraft. The PTK NP project for development of a next-generation manned transport spacecraft is being successfully implemented; the spacecraft is designed for performing flights to the Moon. Inventions made by employees of RSC Energia are regularly included in top-100 inventions in Russia.
The corporation has its Innovation Development Program for 2011 – 2020; one of its most important objectives is development and marketing of the new products, implementation of innovative technologies and technical solutions. And all the abovementioned projects are part of this program.
