Aircraft designer Nikolai Talikov celebrated his 70th birthday

Nikolai Dmitrievich Talikov, Ilyushin Company Deputy CEO, celebrated his 70th birthday on May 22nd 2015. He has been working at the company for almost 50 years making his way from technician-designer to Chief Designer and Deputy CEO, press-service of Ilyushin Company reports.

“Nikolai Dmitrievich took part in development of Il-76 aircraft as a designer, representative of Ilyushin design bureau at flight tests, head of integration department; he solved the most complicated problems related to combat employment of Il-76 and its modifications in terms of aerial delivery system, provision of airlift delivery of troopers, cargo and vehicles. Development of Il-76 versions intended for fire-fighting and search-and-rescue operations as well as Il-76 flying testbed are largely his merit. He implemented his technical solutions in real terms: he supervised the paradrop of cargo on drifting stations «Severniy Polyus» (stands for the North Pole), took part in fire-fighting operations at ammunition storage facilities in Yerevan and Vladivostok using Il-76P aircraft, three times he participated in a very complicated flights to Antarctic Region (stations Bellinsgauzen, Molodezhnaya and Novolazarevskaya) performed by Il-76MD-TD aircraft.  As the Chief Designer Nikolai Dmitrievich Talikov supervised the development of Il-114 turboprop and its modifications,” said in the press-service’s statement.

Nikolai Dmitrievich combines his work with active inventive work and teaching. He is the author of more than 60 inventions implemented by the aircraft industry, a lot of articles and six books related to the history of aviation and Ilyushin design bureau.

The work of N.D. Talikov at Ilyushin Company is the great example of dedication to the national aviation. He was awarded with Order of the Badge of Honor and «For Personal Courage», a lot of medals and badges of honor, as well as the title of «Honored worker of the aircraft industry».
