In 2015 Czech aviation plant Aircraft Industries (100%-owned by UMMC-Holding, Russia) is going to increase its output from 16 (last year) to 18 aircraft, RIA Novosti reports.

Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuivashev and UMMC-Holding CEO Andrei Kozitsin in the network of visit of the region’s delegation to Czech Republic visited the Aircraft Industries enterprise located in Kunovice.

“During the period from 2009 to 2014 the enterprise manufactured over 70 L-410 UVP-E20 aircraft, 45 of which were delivered to Russia, including 11 ones delivered to the armed forces and 5 ones delivered to flight schools of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya). In 2014 alone the company manufactured 16 aircraft of the type. In 2015 the output will be increased to 18 vehicles,” said in the statement of the regional authorities. It was reported that Kuivashev instructed vice premier of the region Valentin Gripas to consider the possibility of operating aircraft of the type in this region.

According to authorities of Sverdlovsk Region, the enterprise is upgrading its production capacities at the moment. In the network of this upgrade Kamensk-Uralsk Metallurgical Works (KUMZ) and CMK Corporation (Stupino iron-and-steel works) remain the only suppliers of materials. Moreover, the aircraft are fitted with components manufactured by over 30 Russian enterprises.

In 2017 the plant will start manufacturing a next-generation aircraft with an all-digital cockpit and improved operating and aircraft performance. The aircraft will offer longer range, more spacious luggage compartment, higher payload and speed; it will also be able to takeoff from shorter runways.

“Now we are developing a new aircraft, its mockup will be showcased at INNOPROM-2015 (industrial exhibition) held in Yekaterinburg. We are going to start production of upgraded L-410 offering new characteristics and capabilities in 2017,” UMMC-Holding CEO Andrei Kozitsin said.

Aircraft Industries is the subsidiary of Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC). Let L-410 Turbolet is the twin-engine aircraft; its range is 1,500 km, passenger capacity – up to 19 passengers.
