Contractors and specialists of Roscosmos have completed assembly and installation of the Soyuz-2 launch system for launch vehicles (LV) at Vostochny cosmodrome by 60%. The installation was started after mounting the missile maintenance van; the work should be completed in July 2015, press-service of Roscosmos reports.
«8 sectors of the launch system’s missile ring have been installed. The manufacturer of this equipment - Tyazhmash, carried out trial assembly. The launch system is intended for installing launch vehicle, fixing it, preparing for the launch and the carrying out the launch as well as connecting the LV to required supply pipelines,» said in the statement.
14 specialists of Spetsialniy trest No.1 are assembling and installing the system; earlier they participated in installation of equipment at Kourou spaceport located in French Guiana. Moreover, specialists of Spetsialniy Trest No.1 took part in construction of the first launch site at Baikonur cosmodrome in 1955.
“All the necessary equipment has already been delivered to Vostochny cosmodrome; the installation process will be started upon completion of construction of required facilities. So far 34% of necessary equipment have been installed in 59 facilities of the launch site. Construction of Vostochny cosmodrome in Amur Region is being carried out in accordance with the President’s order signed on November 6th 2007 and governmental decree signed on January 14th 2009,” Roscosmos added.
