RTI Systems Concern purchased a blocking stake in IKAR engineering center. The company expects that this move will help speed up the development of UAVs, including the ones designed for operation in the Arctic Region, TASS reports with reference to RTI Deputy CEO Igor Bevzyuk.
“This is about purchasing 45% of IKAR’s shares from Airbus by RTI,” he noted.
According to Bevzyuk, the company is interested in expertise of the engineering center in the area of development of aircraft components, like wing and fuselage made of metal alloys and composites. Specialists of IKAR center participated in development of fuselage for Airbus A350 airliner.
“With the assistance of IKAR center we are going to develop high-load and durable composite components for UAVs. We are also going to keep developing systems engineering,” RTI Deputy CEO noted. He also said that purchase of this center is aimed at speeding up the development of UAVs designed for monitoring (including flights performed in the Arctic Region).
