Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that NATO might deploy strike aircraft able to carry nuclear weapons near Russian borders, Interfax reports.
Military exercise with the participation of US aviation was started in Estonia in late March; the pilots performed flights in the Baltics and above the Baltic Sea. This may be considered as “expansion of the presence of air forces of USA and other NATO countries in regions close to the western borders of Russian Federation “, official representative of the Russian ministry, Alexander Lukashevich, said.
“We are concerned, because this military exercise is considered by Estonian Ministry of Defense as an opening of the USAF training center at Amari air base, which means that some NATO countries are considering the possibility of deploying strike aircraft able to carry nuclear weapons near Russian borders,” Lukashevich said.
