Russian government nominated Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov as the candidate for Board of Directors of United Aircraft Corporation, Interfax reports with reference to an information posted at the official legal information website.
According to the document, the following members of the previous Board of Directors were included in the new list: CEO of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky, Boris Aleshin; Deputy Minister of Defense, Yuri Borisov; VEB Chairman, Vladimir Dmitriev; Deputy Minister of Finance, Andrei Ivanov; Deputy Minister of Transport, Valery Okulov; UAC President, Yuri Slusar; Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of Russia, Ivan Kharchenko; and Rostec State Corporation CEO, Sergey Chemezov.
At present the UAC Board of Directors comprises 11 persons. Besides B. Aleshin, Y. Borisov, V.Dmitriev, A. Ivanov, V. Okulov, Y. Slusar, I. Kharchenko and S. Chemezov it includes pro-rector of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy (VAVT), Pavel Kadochnikov; VEB Deputy Chairman, Andrei Klepach, and UAC ex-president, Mikhail Pogosyan.
United Aircraft Corporation was established on February 20th 2006. Russian Federation owns 84,33% of its shares. The corporation comprises Sukhoi Holding Company, Irkut Corporation, UAC-Transport Aircraft, Ilyushin Company, Sokol Plant (Nizhny Novgorod), Tupolev Company, Aviastar-SP, VASO, RAC MiG.
In late December 2014 Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that it makes sense to include high-ranking officials in the Board of Directors of state-owned companies (vice-premiers, ministers, heads of government agencies, etc.).
Earlier the Minister of Economic Development, Alexey Ulyukaev, explained that the officials are included in Boards of Directors of state-owned companies in order to supervise their activities during the economic crisis.
