In late April China must make a final decision whether to join the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) or not, Deputy Chairman of Russian Government, Dmitry Rogozin, said.

Positive decision may ease the certification of jointly developed aircraft. “China is interested (in joining IAC), - Rogozin said. – I think that in late April I will meet with my Chinese colleague – vice-premier of the PRC, Wang Yang, in Hangzhou and we will resolve the situation related to development of this aircraft (Aircraft-2020 – joint project of Russia and China for development of a wide-body airliner)”.

Rogozin added that IAC is well recognized among international certification companies, that is why it does not need to purchase any additional licenses to carry out its work. “China has its own analogue of IAC, but it is a national one and it is able to certify only aircraft operated on domestic routes, - Rogozin added. – That is why China needs to join an international organization. IAC is the best one, because they will be able to take a rightful place there”.

Rogozin reminded that Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev offered China to join IAC during his meeting with Premier of the PRC Li Keqiang. He added that the parties must approve a roadmap for joining the IAC at the upcoming meeting with Wang Yang.
