Indian Defense Acquisition Council headed by the country’s Defense Minister approved the upgrade of six carrier-based Ka-28 helicopters operated by the national navy, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports with reference to Indian Express.
«The corresponding tender was issued in 2008; the Indian party and Rosoboronexport were negotiating the price of this contract from 2010 to 2013,» a source familiar with the situation said.
«The helicopter’s cockpit, engines and radar will be upgraded. The vehicles will also be fitted with new navigation equipment,» the source added.
