Russian armed forces are establishing a command and measurement station in Crimean Evpatoriya, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian Minister of Defense, General of the Army Sergey Shoygu.
“At present a stand-alone command and measurement station located in Crimean Evpatoriya is being fitted with cutting-edge equipment, which allows controlling all types of military spacecraft,” Shoygu said at a meeting of the Ministry’s Board.
According to him, the latest Voronezh radar stations came on duty in Kaliningrad and Irkutsk in December, the pilot operation of radar stations of the type was started in Eniseysk (Krasnoyarsk Krai) and Barnaul (Altai Territory). Moreover, the first start of such station was carried out in Orsk (Orenburg Region) in January.
“The integrated space system is being created and new radar stations of the ballistic missile early warning system are being constructed,” Shoygu added.
The minister stressed that the President of Russia defined the establishment of aerospace defense system as one of the most important objectives in the area of development of Russian armed forces, and the missile early warning system is being developed.
