Indonesian officials are considering the possibility of purchasing up to three Be-200 amphibian aircraft, Rosoboronexport Deputy CEO Sergey Goreslavski said after LIMA-2015 show, Vzglyad reports.

The show closed on March 21st 2015; it was held at Langkawi Island, Malaysia. Over 30 delegations from 20 countries visited the Russian exhibition area. The parties discussed possible ways of cooperation in the area of aircraft, marine vessels and air defense systems.

«Be-200 has proven its worth after the crash of Air Asia’s aircraft. Following these results we are negotiating deliveries of these aircraft to Indonesia,» Goreslavski said.

According to him, at present different presentations are being held. «Indonesia is interested and it may purchase up to three vehicles of the type,» he added.

Airbus A320-216 operated by Air Asia Indonesia departed from Surabaya (Indonesia) to Singapore early in the morning on December 28th and disappeared from radar without using SOS signal after less than 60 minutes of flight. 162 persons died in the crash.

Russian rescuers were the only specialists to participate in the lifting of tail section of the jet’s airframe by means of carrying out diving operations. A great job has been done in the air and under the water during participation of EMERCOM’s specialists in this search-and-rescue operation.

Be-200 is the Russian amphibious aircraft developed by Beriev Aircraft Company and manufactured by Irkutsk Aviation Plant. Some of its characteristics make Be-200 a unique aircraft.
