Deputy Minister of Defense of Russian Federation, Yuri Borisov, confirmed that the mass production of PAK FA (T-50) fighter would be started in 2016. So far only one country in the world operates fifth-generation fighters — USA (F-22 and F-35), RIA Novosti reports.

“Delivery of the first production fifth-generation fighter is scheduled for 2016,” Borisov said during his visit to Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant (the enterprise is assembling PAK FA prototypes intended for flight testing).

“The most important thing is that the development of this jet was successful,” the Deputy Minister said. According to him, this year the plant will deliver four more test aircraft for flight testing.

It was reported earlier that use of composite components, cutting-edge technologies, the jet’s aerodynamic configuration and engine performance grant a very low radar, optical and IR signature.
