Kalashnikov Concern will launch production of motorboats and UAVs

Kalashnikov Concern decided to purchase a controlling stake (51%) in ZALA Aero (Russia) and establish a joint venture for production reconnaissance UAVs, Kalashnikov CEO Alexey Krivoruchko said at IDEX-2015 show held in Abu Dabhi, RBC reports.

According to Krivoruchko, UAVs manufactured by Kalashnikov will be used to protect the state border, surveillance and special operations. Kalashnikov and ZALA are also going to develop and manufacture UAVs intended for monitoring of high-risk facilities and emergencies, geodesic studies under severe climatic conditions.

Moreover, Kalashnikov Concern is purchasing a controlling stake (51%) in Euroyachting Ryibinskaya Verf Company and is going to start production of assault, search, rescue and pleasure boats under Kalashnikov brand. Kalashnikov CEO Alexey Krivoruchko told journalists at IDEX-2015 show at Abu Dhabi, RBC reports.

According to him, Euroyachting Ryibinskaya Verf Company will be purchased “in the network of new development strategy for the period until 2020 (inclusive)” in order to solve one of the “key problems” – expand the product line of the concern. Kalashnikov is going to manufacture civil and military motorboats. Kalashnikov boats will be used to fight piracy and terrorism, landing and search-and-rescue operations. 

Kalshnikov Concern is the Russia’s largest manufacturer of automatic and sniper weapons, guided artillery projectiles and a wide range of civil products. The concern manufactures fowling pieces, sporting rifles, machining stations and tools. The concern’s revenues for 2013 were 2,2 billion rubles.
