United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is going to showcase the latest Russian medium-haul passenger aircraft MS-21 to the visitors of MAKS-2015 airshow (to be held in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region), Vzglyad reports with reference to the president of UAC, Yuri Slusar.
«In 2015 we hope to complete assembly of MS-21 fuselage and showcase it to the visitors of MAKS-2015 airshow online. By the year-end we plan to roll out the assembled aircraft with all the systems and interior installed,» Slusar said.
We remind you that on January 26th Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Rogozin said that maiden flight of MS-21 medium-haul airliner is scheduled for early – mid-2016.
MS-21 aircraft will replace Tu-154 and Tu-134 jets. Irkut Corporation is assembling the jet. Three versions of MS-21 seating 150, 180 and 212 passengers will be manufactured. Irkut Corporation believes that the liner will outmatch Boeing and Airbus aircraft of the same class in terms of aircraft performance; it will be put into operation in 2017.
Earlier Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that he is optimistic about the future of MS-21 aircraft at the global market; its cost advantage has increased due to ruble’s depreciation. The share of MS-21 components manufactured in Russia is over 50%.
Moreover, it was reported that India is interested in purchasing MS-21 liners.
